Today we read a lot in Japanese, we practice a lot translating from Japanese. I like this kind of lesson, even if I need to focus way more in some grammar point. Thank you Sachi San, see you next lesson

Thank you for having me in the class today.
It is such an incredible class, and I learned a wide range of written Japanese phrases and grammar rules at the same time.
Thanks again and see you soon.

Ayami sensei was nice and easy going! She only spoke to me in Japanese, which forced me to speak out loud and try my best to put together sentences. I felt very comfortable talking to her. She also took the time to understand my needs and level. Looking forward to the next class!

Teacher is so diligent and extremely knows how to teach and train my daughter and we've attended the class about half year and every 1 hour a week. My daughter could start to speak out some simple sentences and understands some phrases of the stage play or animations.

We discussed the video the teacher recommended last time. The teacher has many insightful thoughts on the latest AI technology and ethics, and also asks deep questions that make me think. The discussion was really engaging, and I learned a lot!

Another happy lesson with mikko sensei! Mikko sensei taught me about some Japanese slangs which I felt very interesting to learn. Mikko sensei is very easy to talk to, the lesson was finished with a blink of an eye. We discussed different topics so that I can always prepare some vocabularies in different aspects. I have been learning Japanese for some time, and I think that I was lacking of knowledge outputting exercise. Mikko sensei lesson provided great opportunities for me to output what I’ve learnt so far.

My son learnt some basic japanese greetings in the first trial lesson. Haruna provides some games after the lessson and my son is really happy playing them. Those games enriched my son's memories on what he learnt in the lesson.

Asuka-san was very easy to talk to, and she focuses on a conversational style of teaching! She suggested some practical materials to go through based on my level of understanding, and she was very patient with me as I practiced some basic self-introductions. Thank you for your time and effort, and for your suggestions!

I’m able to practice conversation in each session, which is very helpful. Currently, I still rely on a lot of English between my Japanese sentences. I’m looking forward to improving my vocabulary and grammar so I can become more fluent in Japanese.

I've taken Sachi-先生’s lessons many times now. Shes very kind, fun, and explains things easily. Her notes and messgaes are also easy to understand. If you want to use different materials just tell her in advance and she will use them. I recommend taking her lessons, if you want to have interesting free talk conversations or just want to use the textbook.

Q3. How do I choose my Japanese tutor?
If you have a clear idea of your criteria for choosing a tutor - such as any specific learning objectives, target cost for tutoring, etc. - you can use the search function to quickly find a tutor who suits your needs, and select “book trial” to set up your first Japanese online lesson.
If you don't have time to find a tutor or aren't sure where to start, we can help with recommendations. Try using our tutor recommendation tool here, which will provide you with tutor matches according to your selected needs.
Q4. What's the right learning environment for me? Should I choose a Japanese tutor who is a native speaker?
One of the best ways to learn Japanese is to immerse yourself in an environment where you try to use only Japanese.
However, if you do not currently have a solid base in spelling and/or vocabulary, we recommend you choose a bilingual tutor who speaks your target language and your native language, as you will likely have a better learning experience during your one-on-one private tutoring.
If you have a good range of vocabulary but lack the opportunity to practice, then we recommend you choose a native Japanese tutor.

All tutoring fees are set by the Japanese tutors themselves, and not by AT. Most of our Japanese tutors charge USD$10-30 per hour.
You can also get matched with suitable Japanese tutors who fit a specific budget. If the tutor’s fees work for you, you can buy a lesson package from them or start with a “trial lesson.”

You can pay with PayPal or credit card (American Express, Mastercard, or Visa). For certain international markets (e.g. Taiwan), we also accept local methods of payment, such as payment via ATM or convenience store.
Q8. How many Japanese lessons should I purchase?
If you have a short term goal, we recommend you purchase enough lessons that you can take classes consistently within your timeframe. If you need significant improvement to reach your goal, we recommend you an adequate number of lessons, and get into the habit of regular weekly learning! The more you put in, the more you get out of it!
